Writing is a difficult enough profession without having to constantly worry about money and your personal finances. Some writers – Dan Brown, Stephen King, J.K. Rowling make it big-time and earn millions or hundreds of millions of dollars from their work. Many of us hope to achieve that level of fortune and fame. Still others just enjoy writing and are looking for more time to write away from the pressures of a full-time job.

After all, if you’re working full-time it’s often hard to write. Many of us have heard the saying: “don’t quit your day job.” And that’s probably good advice – until we’re pulling down big commission checks.

But there are things you can do to maximize your earnings and your savings that will give youmore time to write and more financial independence. After all, the less you have to worry about your full-time job, the more you can concentrate on writing your epic novel.

What I hope to do in this book is provide some tips on how every writer can make and earn more money. These are not gimmicks, but ideas and advise that will earn you a return right away. Some require you to dedicate time, others require you to do no more than make a visit to your local bank or your local Internet bank.

If you have comments, questions, or ideas, post them below. I’m happy to respond and I hope a dialogue develops.

In the end, I hope some of these tips put a few extra dollars in your pocket - money that can be invested in your writing passion.

Caveat: I am not an investment professional. You should seek personalized advice from qualified professionals regarding all personal financial issues and evaluate the risks and applicability of your own circumstances of each financial product discussed. Should you, through this book, identify an individual or organization purporting to offer personalized advice, you bear all responsibility to ensure that the individual or organization has the qualifications that they may represent on the website, and that their advice is appropriate for your circumstances.
