A lapse back into self-deprecation
As my body exudes simple jubilation.
A house of bright colors, and gardens of light,
The interior darkness, the pit of deep night.

What am I now? All smothered in pain,
Why do I burn in the oncoming rain?
I fall into myself: Justice is served!
Flagellation of self, with these memories preserved.

I reach out to them, arrayed in lithe joy,
They turn me away, my hope they destroy,
For I cannot rest in this place of dread tears,
Inhabited by ghouls and the phantoms of fears…
