She works long days behind the bar

With a bottle and a note pad

The men used to like to call to her

Now they all say it's just too bad

She burned so brightly and so pretty

from her convers up to her hipster hat

Now she's one more lost person, in the city

You know that she's still single

'Cause she laughed all the men away

Now she spends every night and day

Now she watches all the young folks, wonderin' why she's single

One Jack on the rocks

Serving beer as she orbits

She doesn't know anybodies names

She only knows them by their face and favorites
She's stood by all the bus stops

She's hailed a few too many cabies

She wants to leave the whole city behind

But now she's just one more lost person, in the city

She mixes drinks with her eyes up

Her eyeliner, a little thick

She keeps waiting for an invitation

But nothing ever seems to do the trick

Every now and then she tells the tale

Of the man back in Portland

He offered her a tiny diamond ring, but

Back then marriage just was not her thing

She battles lonelyness with  a microbrew

At the end of the day and a little blotchy

Battling lonelyness with her tabby cat

She's just one more lost soul, in the city
