THE DINNER GUEST

Linens crisp and white

Candle light casting

Rainbows through

Cut glass goblets

Aromas of roasted meat

Blend with the spicy

Fragrance of mint

And rosemary

The warm food steams

The window so she

Can barely glimpse

Her reflection

As she raises the wine

To toast the holiday

The guest in the glass

Does too

Mocking her loneliness

The meal is

Ruined by the salt

Of her tears
