I’ve emptied out this pen

Trying to say the right words to you

But the more I try to write

The less I seem to say

I don’t know how to express how I feel

I was never a poet but I’m sure that’s no big deal

I’m on my second notepad

But the pages seem to disappear

Into a void of darkness

As I try to stop the tears

I wonder why you left on that greyhound

I was never a poet but I tried to be anyhow

I was never a poet

But I know what I feel is real

My love for you is surreal

For the first time in my life

I cannot explain but I must get you back

I was never a poet but I miss you so much

There’s a line I remember

From an old fairytale

I think it was a prince who lost his love somewhere

I will cross all mountains and valleys to you

If only you promise to love me true
