Remember those wet footprints
on that rockless shore?
And that empty sandcastle,
that crinkling coke can in the wind,
how they all faded, disappeared?

Remember that paper boat floating away,
as it slowly flowed into the horizon?
That lone goose in the sky that fell
and slowly vanished under the waves?
How the sun was hidden behind clouds,
and the sky covered by grey,
the tiny raindrops melted into the sand.

Remember the splashing of waves
and their thunderous roar?
The dull, strong wind, the flat raindrops,
that pushed the paper boat back ashore
just to disappear again?
And when all was calm, there was only
that rockless shore.
