My first experimental poem. You know, I was reading e. e. cummings at the time and I wanted to try something new too.

Yes, the last two line are lame. But I had to end it with something...right?

u is a cup of water

i is a one-eyed fish

living in a cup of water

u is a very big net

i is a wingless butterfly

caught in a very big net

u is a happy little boat

i is the arms of the sea

holding up a happy little board

u is a horse-shoe magnet

i is for iron

drawn towards a horse-shoe magnet

u is everything to i

i is not anything without u

u and i should always be together

u is well rounded

i is simple

u is aesthetic

i is dull

u sometimes needs more space

that’s good because i can fit anywhere

u sometimes needs to belong somewhere

that’s also good because i is like a sturdy wall

u can lean on i anytime.

if u didn’t want to be by i anymore

that would be really sad

because i would be like

a fish without its one eye

a wingless butterfly without its antenna

an arm of the sea without the hand

a singular candle dark and unlit

because i would be like

iron without the i
