Wrote this 5/6/05. I picked a flower for my mother and it wilted while we were in the grocery store, but it still looked beautiful. Don't worry- once it was placed in water it bloomed again!

Once vibrant with life,
color, fragrance
A posh existence
In a cold, dying world
Bled of its replenishment
Its tone deepens into sorrow
as it hangs its brilliance in shame
Waiting slowly for tomorrow
* * *
Like a slow dance with death
Whirling, wilting
Deep embraces where darkness lies
Until the radiant fire is extinguished
... but the beauty never dies.
