Mist clouded my eyes, the blurry film interrupting my clear vision. It made annoying dust-like flecks dance around in my eyes and it stung to blink away the tears. I swatted at it, the attempt useless since it was all around me like a cloak of clouds. She is out there somewhere, I know. My other half. The one I will marry someday. I just have to find her. But for one thing I know for sure, she's probably out there getting her heart broken over and over again. She's looking for me. Just like I am, her. She'll make up her mind that they're all the same, that everyone she falls in love with next is just like the last. To not be suspicious, she keeps her feelings from everyone else behind a smile. But somedays, she breaks. You can see her smile falter, her bottom lip quiver. She'll look up and tell you that she's fine, wiping her tears away on her sleeves and she would flash you that convincing, broken smile. Oh, how I wish I was by her side. I would catch every tear she sheds and I'll cherish them, swirl them around in a jar, add them to my collection of emotions. I will respect this girl. She has felt so much but she still lives through each day. The number of times she has been rejected won't matter anymore when we meet. We'll find each other and we'll know. From the first touch, she'll know that she will no longer be alone. That I will be the one to stay. I'll promise to love her forever. "Forever? How many times have I heard that and it all turns to lies?" She'll ask me, as we lay in bed, smothered under warm blankets, her body pressed against mine, her legs around me. I'll interlock our fingers and face her with hope in my eyes. "I'll never leave, this I promise you. Every time I look at you, I fall in love all over again. I love all your flaws, no matter how much you don't. I am not going to swear that things won't be hard at times and that we're not going to fall apart but I won't lose you over these little things. I'll see every fight as our love getting stronger. Nothing will come in between us, nobody will quench my thirst for love better than you. You're the only one for me. You were always meant to be." And she would cry, her eyes moistening with the first few drops. Her face would be white as marble, the tear tracks staining the pinkish hue of her cheeks. But I'll wipe them, I'll wipe them all away. For all she knew, I could be feeding her rubbish lines from the internet. She'll take the necessary precautions to not get her heart shattered again. She'll ask the big question, "Do you really love me?" And by the look in my eyes, she'll know that I do. Her head would bob with the force of her sobs and she'll squeeze my fingers tighter. She's crying not because she's sad or happy but because she's sad and happy. Sad because she's replaying her past, she's loved everyone but none loved back and she has to fix up her trust again, for this person who will probably break it again. But she's happy because she knows he won't. She knows he'll love her for who she really is. The way he looks at her like as if she's brightened his whole day. Those late nights watching movies and cuddling, his hand always in hers. The spaces between her fingers are where his fit perfectly. The way he's not afraid to show her off in public, like he was proud of her to be by his side and the way he whispers 'I love you' softly in her ear and the way he tilts her chin up to give her one of those sweet, passionate kisses. His eyebrows would lower and his voice would resonate deeper. He'll drive her crazy, drawing out those hushed sighs of pleasure. She'll grit her teeth and pull his hair and wound her legs around him tighter. They'll become one in body, mind and soul. And they'll know. They'll know that neither of them are going anywhere.
