When he sleeps
He is fishing
Always that day
Always that place
With his father
And the hook
And the worms
And the livery

The fish at first
Flipping and flopping
Then growing lethargic
Langorous
slower
slower
slower and
stopping in the water

When he wakes
He has forgotten
But he is still there
The fish
The livery
slower
slower
slower
He doesn't even realize
He is drowning
