 A pile of garbage

Reeking on the floor

The smell enough to kill me

Before I reach the door.

Odor so pungent

You can almost see it in the air

Filth so vile

It's like I can feel it in my hair.

A pile of garbage,

Rot and decay

The discards of every day life

Someone forgot to throw away.

Flies hovering about the stench

In clusters and in teams,

The pile of garbage filled with maggots,

It is not what it seems.

A pile of garbage

In a back alley-way

A lifeless body decomposing

Leading me astray.
