He gazed down at the fragile girl lying in the hospital bed; she was hooked up to various machines, all attempting to keep her alive. The illness had wracked over her body so fast that the experience was like someone slamming down the gas pedal in a car, giving everyone else whiplash in the meantime. Looking at the monitors, he reviewed everything the doctors had said about her condition: hopeless, deathly ill, brain-dead.... There were so many descriptions to say one thing, but he didn't want to believe any of it, but he knew this was no way to live. As a tear rolled down his cheek, he took one final look at his wife, and reached down and pulled the plug.
