Even after a hurricane, there is still the promise that life continues and healing can take place for anyone.

The paint chipped off

as homes were

swept away

the shaking moment

of destruction

displaced broken lives

like clay pots

The mud stirred

full of empty shells

memories hidden in flooded tombs

In the eye of the storm

of our lives

we look up

In the valley

winds change direction

while levees break open

and all I could see

were the stars in our eyes

when the rainbow comes

will the promise bring us home?
