The weight was lifted from the gallant steeds back
curiosity arose in the great war horses mind
The four legged armored counter part turn to find his master flat on his back
Sounds of men dying, clanking of sword and spears continued
The metallic smell of blood tainted the pallet
A warm breath of air startled my hand
Blood crusted eyes fixated on a dark figure
Looming over a powerful beast and friend
Words struggled out my throat, "oh, my faithful friend."
Twitching of the ears a scratching of the huff lead the horse to blow out loudly smacking it lips
The magnificent beast lowered its head again to smell the wet hilt in hand
What have I done? How many have to die? Where have I lead us, old faithful steed?
My grip let loose, my face splashed in the sky
What life was left was all that I had to cling to
The brilliant stallion bowed his head low as if to say a prayer
A thought of gratitude was felt by both
A thought of remorse was felt by both
A thought of honor was felt by both
I gargled my own redness out my throat for one last thought
"Good bye cruel world"
