Pantheon

I have seen musicians

find Jesus, hiding

(and he was)

and poets tear out their eyes onstage

only to be booed off

I have seen artists smear faeces

on their fridge doors

confusing them for canvasses

and aspiring politcos

preach to pets on porticos

in the belief that they will

achieve franchise some day

meanwhile, the employed

drive daily to and fro

like Atlas

chanting mantras about

supporting the heavens

above the mad, the indolent

the uninterested
