The Love Nazi

You knew I’d annex your Sudetenland

As soon as I could, and ravage

Your Polish Corridor.

The Ruhr was my prime objective, though,

And it fell so easily despite your

Attempted use of gas.

But you performed a Dunkirk

And escaped across the sea

Out of artillery range.

And to think I could have got

You when you were point blank

But I’m such a lousy shot.

And now it’s love in another theatre

Without engagement or surrender

Holding our wounded hearts dismembered.

Perhaps I should hold out peace

Let love die with my retreat;

If it were that easy I would

Sign a treaty, become good friends

Stop asking why it felt so good

To be in your arms again.
