I inhaled the stench of chemical weapons

On the road to Damascus;

Koranic orators sang

Dulce et Decorum Est

In classical Arabic.

The exhausted powers witnessing death

Uttered disdain beneath their breaths

No-one heard and no-one cared

As long as their standards of living was spared.
