Do you really know the affect?

A deep place
A dark mind
An empty soul
A full head.
Words of affection
Deeds to taunt
A message to be sent
A story to be told
Lies to be said
Malfunctions to act upon
Questions to ask
And hurt to be kept.
Differences acknowledged
Bruised to the bone
Fear to strike
And labels to give
Trees to cut down
And boosters to toss.
When all is said and done,
Who is hurt
And who is helped?
With all excuses lost
What’s left to live with?
