Alyssa, Devin, Liz, and Brittany are best friends. They would never do anything without each other’s opinion. But when a once anticipated summer turns to a group of best friends’ worst nightmares they have to learn to live with out each other.

Devin is 17 and going into her senior year. She runs into the conflict of summer and the departure of her friends. She’s living through her summer memories by herself and that’s why she comes up with the idea of the notebook. The notebook is where the girls will tell each other their summer memories and send it around the country and even to Italy. Then the departure of her friends becomes the least of her problems. Devin is almost raped by the school’s ex-quarterback but was quickly saved by the school’s hottest bad boy. Ethan Henderson has a lot of experience with jail, drugs, messed up families, and broken hearts. At first Devin is completely terrified of her hot bad ass savior, but she quickly learns that he’s just misunderstood. Devin learns there’s a lot more than meets the eye but does she fall for him before she learns that he might not be as good as she hoped he was?

Alyssa is 17 and on her way to her 11th school. Alyssa’s parents’ can’t seem to stay in the same place for a long period of time. So when her parent’s sit her down for a chat Alyssa already knows it’s time to say goodbye. She had big hopes to stay in Michigan for her final year of high school but her parents had big hopes that Kentucky was everything people made it out to be. Now Alyssa has to come to terms with herself, her parents, and the state of Kentucky. Already disliking it without even arriving Alyssa promises herself she would never find friends like the ones she had at home. But when she finally accepts the fact that she won’t be going home to Michigan anytime soon she begins to think she needs to give Kentucky a try. Can Alyssa make it on her own? Or will she be to homesick that she’ll beg her parents to move back to where she rightfully belongs?

Brittany is 17 and she’s done with her wild vacations. Brittany attempts to get away from a crazy summer to go to a place to kick back and relax. But the problems she’s been facing with friends, school, drama, and boys, seems to follow her wherever she goes. Brittany doesn’t want to stay in California any longer than she has too but she knows her parents think everything’s fine and dandy. Keeping secrets is tough, can Brittany do it? Or will Brittany be too caught up in everything she’s been holding inside that she’ll have to let it all out.

Liz is in love with Rome. She’s 17 and is ready to spend the rest of her life in the most captivating place she’s ever been too. Sending the journal back and forth with small messages inside of how her summer is going just isn’t cutting it. However, she can’t tell her friends what she really wants to do because she’s afraid they will get mad. If Liz lets it slip that she loves Rome more than she’s lead on then her friends might think they’ve lost her to the wonderful place for forever. Liz has a lot of thinking to do and some hearts to break. Will she end up making the right decision? Or will she have to make a bad one to make people she cares about happy?
