It’s dark and quiet. The silence so overwhelming. My surroundings are desolate. Not a single living thing. The sky is dark and dirty. Smell of decay drift in the air. I travel a beaten path. I've been here many times before. But not remembering when or why. My feet kick up dust as I come to a stop. There is a fork in the road. Right or Left? The right holds before me a green and sunny path. The left a dark and colder one. To the right or to the left? The rain starts to pour down. Making thick black sticky mud. It clings to my legs and feet like a leech on a pulsing vain. I try to run right towards the beauty, warmth, and light. I get bogged down. I fall to my knees. The sun disappears and the beauty dies before my eyes. It’s now all empty again. Both paths hold nothingness. The rain pours down even hard if that was even possible. The mud gets thicker. I struggle to my feet and trudge on. Down the path that once held such beauty and hope for me. A bitter wind kicks up and blows past. Freezing me to the core of my empty soul. Every day I walk amongst my fellow man not showing them what lies within me.
