Its about two friends learning to tell the truth and forgive.

Raccoon and Badger.
By: Crissi Winia

The sun was falling asleep and the moon came out to play. Raccoon decides to visit his friend Badger.
“Hello Badger, what do you have there?” Raccoon questioned. Badger was just opening a surprise his parents had given him.
“Look what I got! We can play with my new toy. I got it for being good while mom and dad were out and about today,” Badger said, “We can share it, I'll go first because its mine. Then you can play with it.”
Raccoon and Badger played with Badger’s new toy all night. The sky was starting to get light. Raccoon and Badger had a wonderful night of fun.
“Badger! It's time to come home now!” Badger’s mother called out.
“I'll see you tomorrow! We can play with my toy again,” Badger said. Raccoon started to leave but stopped, he had a thought. A bad thought at that. Why should I have to wait to play with this toy till tomorrow? I wasn’t the one who was told to come inside. Maybe I'll play just a little longer, and put the toy back when I’m finished. That’s what he decided to do. Raccoon played with the toy all day. He was sleepy, but didn’t want the fun to end.
Raccoon knew he needed to get home and go to sleep. As Raccoon was about to leave, he had another thought. I’m sure Badger won’t miss his toy if I borrow it for the day. I can return it before he even misses it. That’s just what he did. Raccoon took his friend the Badgers toy home without another thought.
The next day Badger awoke upset. His toy was lost. or so he thought. Badger went looking for his new toy. It was nowhere to be found .He started to wander everywhere he played with it the night before. He thought, after awhile of looking, to check with his friend Raccoon. Maybe he had seen it.
When he arrived, Raccoons mother said, “Hes still asleep. He was up so late. I’ll let him know your looking for your toy. Ill send him out after he wakes up to help you.”
“Thank you,” Badger said before he left. He started to worried that his toy had been stolen.
A few hours later. Raccoon woke up. Fully rested, he made his way down to greet his mother.
“Good morning. You were up late. Oh your friend Badger came by. He seems to have lost his toy. Do you know anything about that? Have you seen it?” Raccoons mother said.
Raccoon froze, “NO!” he said too loudly. Raccoons mother was surprised by his volume.
“I mean, no. I haven’t seen his toy. Maybe I should help him.” Raccoon corrected.
“Alright sweetie, have fun. I hope Badger finds his toy.” Raccoons mother said.
Raccoon went back to where he left the toy and brought it out with him. Hiding it so Badger couldn’t see it. He found his friend, and they started to look together.
Several minutes later, “So have you found it yet Badger?” Raccoon asked. Raccoon had hidden the toy when Badger wasn’t looking. Raccoon felt awful.
“No, not yet. Oh wait! There it is! In that tree!” Badger exclaimed.
“Awesome, I think I’m going to go home now. I don’t feel well.” Raccoon said. He walked home feeling guilty about lying to Badger. When he got home he told his mother how he felt. She took his temperature, and made him something warm to eat.
“You're as healthy as ever. Is there something you want to tell me? I won’t be mad, or angry. Maybe I can help,” Raccoons mother said. Raccoon knew he needed to tell the truth so he did.
“I took Badgers toy, I only played with it. I was going to give it back. Only when it was time to go home, I didn’t want to stop, so I brought it home with me. I planned to give it back this morning, but I slept too long though. Are you mad?” Raccoon felt a little better that he told his mother, But he still didn’t feel all the way better.
“No honey, I’m not mad. What do you plan on doing now?” Raccoons mother asked.
“I think I’m going over to Badgers. “I’ll be home in an hour or so. I love you mom.”
“I love you too Raccoon,” Raccoons mother said, as he walked away. Badgers house wasn’t too far from Raccoons house, but the walk seemed further on this trip. When he finally reached Badgers house he was nervous. He was relieved when she answered the door instead of Badger.
“Is Badger home?” Raccoon asked Badger’s mother.
“Yes, I’ll go get him. Come on in.” Badgers mother said with a smile. Raccoon walked into the living room, sat down, and took a deep breath. Badger walked into the room and Raccoon couldn’t keep it inside any more.
“I took your toy last night!” Raccoon blurted. Badgers face went from happy to confused.
“You did? Why would you do a thing like that? How? WE found it in the bushes this morning. Were you hiding it from me?” Badger confronted him.
“I didn’t mean to take it. I was just playing with it. I meant to give it back. I really did. Then you woke up before me, and noticed it was gone. I didn’t know what else to do. So I put it in the bushes where you would find it. I’m sorry.” Raccoon said remorseful.
Badger almost started to yell at Raccoon for being so bad, but he had a thought, “Well, since you told me, and apologized, I forgive you. Thank you for telling me.” Badger forgave him. Raccoon smiled.
“Awe thanks pal! Your a true friend!” Raccoon said.
“Just promise me you wont do that again,” Badger warned.
 “OK. I promise,” said Raccoon.

The two friends had a great time playing that day, as well as the rest of their lives. Raccoon learned his lesson to not take what wasn’t his, and Badger learned to forgive.
