We've all lost someone in our lives or will, even if it was a beloved pet.

The Last Goodbye

Through sodden sky I wept all night,

To cleanse the hole in my heart.

Now it's up to me to fill the void

From Nature's cruelest art.

In the blink of an eye twenty years had past

only to bring us here,

Holding you close, this breath your last,

I'm wrought with burning tears.

Somewhere you'll be born again

enriching other lives,

While I sit and mourn your loss

The pain, a cutting knife.

Someday soon this pain will pass

The sun will shine again.

Until that day I'll grieve for you,

And cherish where we've been.
