The Cloud Eater

Sam stared into the deep blue sky, eating strawberries. She wondered why the sky was blue. Why wasn’t it red? Why wasn’t it a darker shade of blue? She had so many questions, that she confused herself. She assumed that blue was a calm color and that’s why God chose it as a ceiling for Earth. She was pleased with this theory. “It’s more or less like that” growled a behemoth of a giant that resembled a mixture between a big stone wall and a killer kitty cat. “Its really complicated, but your theory is nice. Different then what a lot of Gentumanos say." Sam stared at this fantastic being. She was frightened yet interested. “Who are you? I mean WHAT are you? Why are you in my garden? What is a Gentumano?”  She said spewing question after question at the beast.“I am the Cloud Eater. I heard your questions and came into your world to answer them. A Gentumano is a mortal from the Earth realm. You have a lot of questions young one.” Laughed the Cloud Eater. Sam pondered why he had the name Cloud Eater. She didn’t feel frightened anymore. Actually she felt safe and secure. She crawled closer to the massive creature. She offered the beast some strawberries.“No thanks, I prefer some dark clouds” he bellowed, plucking a scary cloud out of the sky. Then something wonderful happened. The Cloud Eater started glowing. Sam gazed at the gentle giant, as he started spitting out thunderbolts. Sam looked on at the bright lights and extravagant colors. She loved the show. “Sorry about that. Whenever I eat a cloud all the memories, dreams, moments from the earth realm are captured and stored in the white clouds. The dark clouds are all the sad, angry dreams and bad memories. Then the dark parts are filtered and rain down on earth. I eat those clouds and extract the happy parts. That’s why I did all those thunder bolts and such. I shall have to go now, Earthling. But before I go here.” The giant handed her a thunder shaped stone. Sam held it to her chest. Sam felt sad. She wanted to go with him. She HAD to go with him.

“Wait!” Screamed Sam. The mammoth kitty cat jumped up and warped out of Sam’s garden. Sam woke up. She realized that it was all a dream.

She looked under her pillow hoping to find the stone. She found nothing. She sighed depressingly and gout out of bed. She looked around and saw rugged rocks. She looked up and saw a red sky and dark clouds. Sam smiled. She was finally here.
