Who Shot the Sheriff

They said I shot the Sheriff. But I did not shoot him. In fact, I never saw him or knew who he was.

The trial was just so they could say I had a trial.

Death by hanging was the verdict. They had not had a hanging for a long time.

But, they hung me from the wrong tree. They hung me from the 'Guilty tree'. The tree beside it was the 'Innocent tree'. Many people were hung there.

I should have been hung there, too.

I knew this was going to tick me off.

But, I cannot remember if it did or not.
