Lying on the gravestones are the flowers

And the letters on the stones look the same.

The dates set low on those stony surfaces

And the largest letters spell the person's name.

As I look across the grounds, I see flowers,

I know that there are graves below them, there,

But all I see is this sea of bouquet color;

I have no words; all I do --- is stand and stare.

I lay my flowers on the grave to the side of me

And I offer up a heartfelt, simple, prayer.

Then I talk to the one that lies asunder,

As if they stand beside me, while I'm there.

"Goodbye", is the first word from my lips,

"I'll miss you, your smile, and your laughter.

Wait for me, if it's possible to do so

And we'll walk together, to that ever-after."
