Your canvas is unyielding

Yet softly you tease

“Cover me in color,

Do as you please.”

So I search through

Blue and yellow and red

The colors of emotion

Useless like hard lead

Then with the colors of earth

I am deeply dissatisfied

For they do no justice

To the depth of your eyes

I contemplate black and white

But you’re not so boring

Those colors would not do fair

The heat inside you, scorching

I see to deface your canvas

Would be to leave a scar

So, with a stroke of genius

I leave you just the way you are
