A poem involving a lost love and a conclusion.

In the evening

She walks by the lakeside

Then she seats herself

Near our favorite tree

She picks the tiny flowers

From in among the grass

And thinks about her man

Her love that went to sea.

Passing cars cast shadows

That move across her

Across her face

And along her glistening hair.

The moonlight outlines

The features of her beauty

And I watch her

But she'll never know I'm there.

She longs for the sailor

That still loves her

But he's broken now

And not the man he was.

She needs time

To mend and move on.

Then this sailor can stop watching

When she does.
