Blindness of the Soul

Tribute to Abraham, Martin and John

There is a dawning within my soul
Acknowledgment of all the prejudices I hold
The learning’s and beliefs engraved in me
All the falseness’s I knew yet believed
All the lies, the evils festering within me
The hatred and all the wrongs given to me
Refusing to proclaim, yet knowing the perpetrator was me

I believed in what I saw front of me
Not what I knew inside to be true
Believed in others words and not their deeds
All those years has left this blindness living deep inside of me

Too blind to see, too young to know
Too weak to state mine own beliefs
Knowing too well the truth from the deceit
I succumbed to the blindness inside of me

I hope that I, before growing past my years
Cure this blindness of my soul
Can close mine eyes and begin to see
The dawning of the man
The man, that God would have me be
