She sits in fear, alone as the bombs drop

in an hysterical haze, for days it just won't stop

she's slipping away, and struggling to see

And dreaming she's under, the sweet maple tree.

Under the stairs, surrounded by rubble

Another one drops, and its burst has her bubble

Helpless and small, and close to the edge

She's fading away, one foot on the ledge.

A prayer from the dying, last chance to repent

But there's always a hope, your last breath won't be spent

Although miles away, I can still see her tears

Her voice in my head, is wrought full of fears

She tries to ignore, the horror outside

But there's nowhere to run, there's nowhere to hide.

She closes her eyes, but the realities still there

Her wildest nightmares, could never compare

She passes away, or so it would seem

But never so lucky, a mere chance to dream.

She dreams of her family, her daughter called Ruth

She searches for answers, but can't find the truth

several days later, she wakes at about four

It makes little difference, time matters no more.

she's better off dead, that would have been kind

No need to grieve, for those left behind
