It was one of those mornings
When she wanted to snuggle
Deep down in bed,
Hide her head

Beneath the pink covers,
And forget about past lovers,
And especially Hoover
And his two-minute pokes,

His crude jokes
And his malicious grin.
She wanted to forget them all,
Think of nothing

But a faraway child,
Running madly
Across the soft sands,
Chased laughing by her father,

And she not knowing then,
How childhood
Could be spent and spun
Before it had hardly begun

As the creeping hands of time
Tick tocked away her life clock
Through the narrow aperture
Between life and death.
