Bukowski’s ghost
Leans over
Your thin shoulder
And whispers

Into your ear,
Don’t forget
To mention
The dames

And the whores,
The booze,
The wine,
The bars,

The boors,
The drinkers
And Mahler
On the radio,

And horses
At the track
And the cats,
Don’t forget

To mention
The darn cats,
And you say,
Go away Hank,

This is my poem,
Not yours,
And he’s gone,
And you say,

What was it
He said
About whores?
