Kase thought Blanck would have made it through,
But he was he blown away on his
First virgin tour of the damned war,
And had he time in the sharp split
Second to think it through it would

Have ticked him off some, as he had
Just got it going with one
Of the sweet cheerleaders back in
Michigan University,
She with the Jane Russell boobs and

All. Kase was surprised that some clown
Of a sniper had brought down young
Carmesser just three days before
Saddam was uncovered, he would
Have loved that, if the darned sniper’s

Bullet hadn’t blown a hole in
His head and made him another
Brother of the young soldiers dead.
Kase had known war’s blood and guts in
Nam, had felt another’s dying

Pulse against his own wounded flesh,
And known the nightmare visits of
The battlefields in bright coloured
Blast, which always came and always,
While his mind can think at all, last.
