Polly waits in anticipation
for Master George's
return from war,

the trenches she's read
are hell on earth,

names after names
in the the daily news
in black and white,

she stands by the window
of his room looking out
at the drive from where he'll come,

the bed's behind her
where they had sex
the last time he was home,

words whispered,

deeds done,

all hush hush,

maid and master,

his moustache against her lips
or along her thighs,

soft and prickly making
her giggle into the night and dark,

the sky is dull
and clouds drift by,

the trees over the way sway,

she listens in case Dudman
the butler comes
and searches her out
and moans groans,

she rubs the windowpane
with a finger,

she hopes he'll come soon,

her sex pot simmers,

memories linger.
