You have gone beyond the
Borders of madness; you
Have touched hands with

The insane in an ungainly
Dance. Mother could have
Hauled you back at anytime,

Her fingers could have saved
You a lot of hours in the company
Of doctors, quacks and dumb

Assed nurses who gave you the
Dull eye and cold shoulder.
You have sat in the company

Of fools, watched their drooling
Lips, listen to their broken speech,
Their inane laughter echoing off

The green walls. Here we go round
The table holding hands, the big
Girl said; here we hold hands and

Later fuck in your fusty bed. You
Have gone over sanity’s shore into
The sea of dark and damp. Father

Could have reached out and saved
You any time or so he later said,
When Mr Death hauled him off

With Big C (cancer to you and me)
And into the vast unknown. You sit,
Watch, feel, smell and hear the

Company of strangers tap on the
Walls of your skull with icy fingers
And the thought of suicide comes

And goes like some awkward dame
On sexual heat, but always after lingers.
