I love this story so much that I purchased a lottery ticket after publishing.

The Barn Jacket

It was common knowledge by all who knew his dad: he was the hardest worker they ever met. He would say, “When I win the lottery, I’ll only work two jobs.” Once a week he would purchase a dollar Lotto ticket. He told his son he had perfected a winning system. That winning day never came. He died suddenly from a heart attack with little money set aside. Days after his funeral his son found his work jacket and tried it on. Inside was a piece of paper. Wouldn’t you know – it was a winning ticket dated two months earlier.
