It was a misty morning.

The air was still and warm.

I floated like a dream through the green trees,

unaware that I slept.

I could feel the wet dirt and soggy leaves

underneath my feet.

The scent in the air was that of moss and old trees.

I felt a fear come over me.

A fear of loneliness,

a lack of security.

On I went, like a wave in the ocean,

on and on;

not knowing what it is I sought.

An echo in the still air,

of a voice familiar to my eager ears.

My eyes, eager as well, searched.

All around, tree by tree, nothing.

The leaves were so green they look like paint.

There were flowers, red, yellow, purple.

My eyes fill with tears.

Was I lost?

Out of nowhere, the voice.

It was carried by the still misty air,

yet it was loud in my ears, in my head.

No direction.

From underneath my feet,

a smoky shadow emerged; rising up like fire.

It was black smoke; yet it smelled of green.

I closed my eyes in fear

though the tears had begun to swallow my vision.

A warmth came with the smoke.

It was surrounding me from my feet up.

I shook in fear as the heat rose.

I could feel his arms now.

My face was buried in his shoulder.

He whispered something in my ear.

His voice was low and deep and comforting.

My love, my darkangel, my soul.

Never will loneliness take me far,

for even in my sleep he exists.
