Monologue-Dan:

“2011. We come together. A year before the prophesied end-of-all-ends, we gathered, in pure humanity and spirit, to live, hold, grasp, onto dreams that were promised, but were never ours. We fought on a timeless sphere, with only a limited amount of time to pursue those dreams. Hours turned into the days which we reflected on in the minutes we spent wondering about the second after the last. Time was short.

Then, when it seemed like it was all gone, when we had been promised a swim in the river only to realize that we were to drown; we lived. 2012 came and went. Now, after saying fifties grace, persecuting a lost culture of international time injustice, and spending the last year presenting our final stand, we bring you here, to present our song. The Spades always have the last hand…

Opening Verse—Evan:

Lies been said, tears been shed…blindly walking, I confess,

In eternities, we believe, in order to fulfill lost dreams.

Sew the seams, form the walls, only knowing they will fall.

Make a stand, sing a song, the audience will judge us all.

Plea for life & end the cycle, life’s oppression is our American Idol.

Chorus—All:

But we will rise, and we will fight, bearing arms through the night.

And when the morning comes to shine, the world is alive, swinging vine to vine.

And here we are still divided: convulsive, broke and sub-decided.

The road not taken, I can see it there, but do I follow, do I dare?

Second Verse—Jacob:

I find myself lost in the years, acting as my passion and my fear.

Without you, my one true spark, I’m just fighting demons in the dark!

What am I, but empty inside? A shell of life without my pride…

Bridge—Dan: (Backed by Evan, Jacob)

In the back of my mind there’s a rhythmic hum,

It’s withering away like the leaves of autumn.

This cultivation of our extrication; a gallant, bold and tainted nation.

With this hand, and with this mind, we can undo the extra binds.

Through the dark, out into the light; this is our plight and our sacrifice.

On we go, to bridge the gap; this is the time that we need to grasp.

Chorus—All:

But we will rise, and we will fight, bearing arms through the night.

And when the morning comes to shine, the world is alive, swinging vine to vine.

And here we are, still divided: convulsive, broke and sub-decided.

The road not taken, I can see it there, but do I follow, do I dare?

Last Verse—All:

We only know what we have seen, through the scope of life’s glossy sheen.

I can see a light at the end of the tunnel, its wavering though,

Through the cracks in the rubble.

Everything ends and everything wares,

It’s the nightmare of an adolescent…..love-affair.

Yet if I’m there, and if I care, the choices will go on just to weigh the rights and wrongs...Yet in order to live we’ve got to get along!
