This is a poem about something that has happened to me recently, that has really caused me to change my feelings about one particular person.

Like a wounded animal

you lash out

with all your strength

putting all your pain and hurt

behind those simple phrases

behind those mechanisms of torture

you care not

who is broken

as long as I feel just as much pain

as you

but you do not understand

how much it hurts me

to see you like this

how much suffering I have felt

because of what I did

to you

you have no knowledge

of how much I cried

how much I destroyed myself

trying to find a way

to tell you

to apologize.

But last night

everything changed.

A slip of a tongue

a missaid word

and I knew

I knew you lied

I knew you spread rumors

I knew you did everything in your power

to hurt me

when all along

my intentions

were to spare your feelings

as much as possible.

I took the blame

I took the pain

I took the untrue rumors

that you spread about me

because I felt

that I deserved it

it was all my fault

because I knew

you knew

everyone knew

that I still cared about you

but no longer

goodbye

I'm done with you.
