Growingwith Joe is the story of a courageous woman who has been forced to deal with the diagnosis of CP with her young son. In it the author describes her fears and feelings of this disorder from denial to anger to acceptance. The reader can easily see how this affected not just the author but her entire family. Every day was a struggle with trying to get her son to be as normal as possible and finally coming to terms with his speciality no matter what and being the best parent she could be. I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. This book made me sad but it is a lesson for everyone not to judge children by their disorder and to accept a person for who they are on the inside not just what's on the outside. I hope the reader realizes what a tremendous impact this story can have in your life.

Growing With Joe

Danielle E. Hiner touches on a matter that is so important today. Many children suffer with Cerebral Palsy, Autism and White matter Disease. Often people get wrapped up in the sickness and forget to look deeper inside for the person. This book takes you on a heartfelt journey into the life of a child that is learning to live with these things. It teaches us how to see your child and not their disabilities. This is a soul touching write. It will shed a light in the darkness of pain. It will guide you to a better day; it is the most wonderful book of truth I have ever read. Everyone that has known someone or has someone in your life that is dealing with this matter, this is just the book for you. A journey into the soul and find answers that linger in the mist, a victory over a battle, a found hope, a love of life, this is an excellent achievement. Touching, Amazing, Tender, remarkable, momentous, and a significant read. A Journey to find faith and renew a soul, Danielle Hiners words give hope to the broken hearted, and holds you in sweet grace. This book will be cherished for all times, a word that is more than a words; it is a work of art.

A "must have" for those touched by a special needs child., June 30, 2007

Bye (Florida) -

This is a truly emotional & inspiring book. The author shared w/the readers her sense of sadness, guilt, anger, fear, persistence, determination, & most of all an immense love. Each chapter ended w/the kind of advice that only life experience could bring & included touching letters from friends & family. I admire the authors plight to help not only her child but all special needs children & am proud to have contributed to such cause. I hope that this book touches others as it did me.

A story that will touch your heart!, September 27, 2007

Growing With Joe by Danielle E. Hiner. This poignant story is about a mother relating the trials and tribulations her family faced when her son is born with Cerebral Palsy and Autism. She describes the emotional roller coaster ride she endured from the time her son first began displaying symptoms, through the multitude of hospital tests, and her struggles to accept and live with the final diagnosis. The strength and fortitude she displayed is truly a testament to how the human race can survive, regardless of the perils.

This book is a wonderful read for anyone facing the challenge of raising a special child, or one who wants to understand the emotional turmoil a family faces when their child is stricken with this heart-rending disability. My prayers go out to any family having to face the challenge of living with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, or any other illness that attacks their child. Thank you, Danielle for sharing your heart with us.
