The Sun and the Dying Star

Darling, as I write this, oh how I ponder on our past
The days and months and years have gone by so fast
But memories of you remain intact, the first one to the last

I loved you from the start, you were beautiful and kind
You truly were the only one who wanted to know my mind
I knew you were the one, there was no other I could find

I was happy for the first time, for what you meant to me
Was worth more than gold and silver could ever really be
But all would come to pass, as I would quickly see

Every second in your presence was the best I ever had
I prayed with every ounce of me that this wasn’t just a fad
Those months I was with you fully, my existence glad

Every time you smiled at me, tears would fill my eyes
Who’d have known I’d found my purpose, what a grand surprise
With you I could be honest; my life had no more lies

Your eyes were as blue as a warm summer sky
I’d never attempted being human, but with you I’d try
Yet despite all my hopes, in the end I would die

As we danced and danced, my life was fully complete
I understood that this moment forever could never be beat
With you by my side darling, I’d never taste defeat

As you held me close, I whispered a thought
Dear God, let me have her, for better or not
This girl is my love, I’m so happily caught

With tears in your eyes, you spoke it not fair
You whispered it couldn’t be with my hands in your hair
It was truly a tragedy, for you were a miracle rare

I wept and I wept, all hope please forsaken
God in heaven, why the hell was she taken
Now my love is destroyed, it is eternally shaken

Three years have passed, and my live remains shattered
People tell me to forget you, as if you hadn’t mattered
But I remember you always, though my heart has been battered

You were an angel, forever light in my personal hell
Every time I put the gun in my mouth, it was you who would tell
That I meant more than that, that it all would be well

You’re still the sun in my world, and I a dying star
I am dead and in this life not going too far
Your life will end well, mine in a smoky bar

Darling, you will always be my life’s greatest part
Forever and ever, you belong in my heart
I will love you for all time, as I have from the start

I love you my angel, and this remains forever true
As long as I lay breathing, my heart remains with you
Goodbye Ciera, I love you forever, now adieu………….
