It was dark. It was dark, but quiet. When she was here it was as if she had never
known the light of day, but instead lived as a creature of the night. Darkness was her friend, Darkness was her escape, Darkness was her peace. Even when alone, the voices taunted her mercilessly,
but whenever she was in the company of Darkness, they seemed to cease.
As the fiery horizon eased it's way into sight the silence slowly faded away.
Although Eve had never known family, she felt as though her friends were her own siblings. She carefully stepped into the main room maintaining a level of silence so as not to disturb the others.
She sat in her chair, a blood red recliner she had found in the road three weeks before. She looked around at her guests, Marissa still with a dagger in her chest, Carl with a necklace of rope, and
Jacklyn missing both eyes and a sewn mouth. Eve was so extensively starved, yet there remained no food. Marissa gladly offer up her remaining limb so that Eve may satisfy her hunger. Eve
immediately denied seeing as she was the newest member of her family. Instead Eve volunteered Carl to give an arm. She swiftly removed it from the elbow down and shared among her
friends.
Jacklyn sat with a dull look plastered on her face and did not say a word. Eve
had always maintained a soft spot for her since her arrival, she was, in fact, the first. A great deal of pity hit Eve and she felt compelled to help Jacklyn. She reached near and snipped the
stitches binding her mouth. Eve jumped, startled by the thud caused by the collision of Jacklyn's jaw to the wooden floor. Immediately Eve burst into tears, regretful of harming Jacklyn. She threw
her arms around the cold body that sat in front of her and bawled more when she realized Jacklyn's body had begun to deteriorate into her own hands.
Upon this occurrence, Eve ran to her room and buried her face into her pillow.
After many hours she looked up, still wiping tears from her eyes, and realized the voices had ceased. It was night. As Darkness entered the room, Eve began revealing her story as though she
couldn't help herself. Seeing as Jacklyn was a gift from Darkness himself, he became fierce with anger. In the blink of an eye, Darkness struck down Eve and dragged her to the depths of the
earth, into his lair itself. Stiff as a board, Eve sat silently as Darkness removed her eyes and sewed shut her mouth, preparing her as a gift for his next companion.
