A Soldier questions if war is right

As bombs fall down and bullets fly

You ask yourself why must they die?

Is it politics or orders?

For us to gun down the marauders

As families lie down and weep

I find the terrors in my sleep

Those screams of anguish and pain

Is all our fighting in vain?

What is bad we are told

Are souls and minds are sold

To the cause with the highest bidder

It is too late to reconsider

I’d rather die out of the picture

Even if I must sustain stricture

From the high generals at there comfy desks

Thinking they know what’s best

As I run to get away

The darkness in my mind stays

As I look back in sorrow

There will not be much left tomorrow

Miss Trevize

No, not perfect.

But violence is abhorrent and this is a good poem.

I agree war is an example of people fighting when half the time they don't know why
