I told her - you know what's great? Bundling up and walking in the snow while holding hot coco. She said while it sounds good in theory I'm not sure how fun braving the elements for leisure really is.  That's something you do when you have to.  I said its also something you do when you want to.  Its like walking in the rain.  It's more fun when you mean to do it.  They made a movie about it - and sang about it too.  she chuckled.  I grinned - held out a cup of hot coco and said let's go. She smiled, took the drink and said well I guess we can come up with a song for this as well. She put on her coat and a cute hat with a little ball in top of it. When she looked at me I noticed it was lob sided. I smiled and found it endearing. On anyone else it would have been a funny idiosyncrasy - but for her it was special. And then she smiled so big her eyes almost dissapeared, burrowed under her cheeks waiting to surprise me a moment later. I placed my hand on her back and we walked through the door.

As soon as we walked outside I felt snow flakes hit my cheek. I have always found snow enchanting. It might be because I don't live around snow that I have always felt awed by it. Things are always different when you see them every day.  Maybe its the crisp air that follows it around.  Maybe its the tall beautiful trees that hold blotches of it up.  It is beautiful glistening negative space that frames all the wonder around it - outlining things like rivers and the trees.  It focuses your attention on the simplest beauty that it surrounds.  Something as bewildering and interesting as a simple black and white multi layerd rock sprouting from the ground goes completely un-noticed in the summer surrounded by flowers and honey bees - but in the winter it stands out with all the distractions around it erased by the soft white.  You appreciate all the things you don't take a moment for on warmer days.  Tonight we stood in the middle of a flurry as the rest of the world disappeared.  Standing out and accented by my green checkered scarf and her bright red hat with an a-symmetrical fuzzy ball bobbing on the top.  It was nothing but white flakes whisping around us, striking our face and disappearing at the same time.  I tried to take time to pay careful attention to each unique flake because in the second after I knew it could be gone, but I was too enamored with the moment.  Enamored with my company.  I could not tell the ground from the snow in the sky.  We just moved forward and trusted the path beneath our feet would not end.  With every questioning step, we just moved forward.  The cross hatched pattens of wind surrounded us with shrouds of snow.  It was like we were walking in a snow globe and we were the only ones inside.
