Hello there my Taiwo, there is something I must do,
I really think it is the time I write a poem to you.

Your mum and I have been talking just about every day,
there are things you need to know and things I want to say.

I know the internet is crazy and its hard to find that one,
but the love your mum and I share cannot be quick undone.

Now the love I have for mum has also moved to you,
my friendship and support for you will never be untrue.

God has never blessed me with children of my own,
and that has left parts of my heart feeling quite alone.

But now I have a chance to have a daughter in my life,
by asking your mum for marriage and her to be my wife.

Now that doesnt automatically bring a daughter unto me,
but lots of work on my part to show the love you will see.

When you call me daddy the emotions burst inside,
Knowing I have touched your heart fills me full of pride.

Me moving into your household, may not be an easy thing,
love and respect for you and mum is the promise that I bring.

The only thing I ask from you is a chance to show my heart,
the respect we need for each other, I will always do my part.

I hope you understand the things that I am trying to say,
all three of us will have to work at this, each and every day.

I know there is not a way that I can ever be your father,
but hoping I can be your dad and you can be my daughter.
