When days turn septic

While the daylight hours play out like matinees

And the casual feel of a sex appeal

When the washed out watchers sit with eyes ablaze

A past time that was better spent with richer words

They’re all shadows in this company bound by easy terms

With the lights down low and lost in tragedy

Worth a passing thought from those below

Sweet like a symphony as the words flow off the tongue

Like when the wine flows after hours when

The songs have all been sung

In the echoes of the laughter that resounds from every wall

And the balcony and bleachers from where they watch the hero fall

The synchronicity of whispers that soften and immerse of

The audience while watching the company in verse

The curtain like the fallen hero falls once more, again,

Bow down to the applause with a barricade before them
