Deepest red you’ll be my friend tonight

So let this world grow hazy like the light

Lonely still with no-one yet to love

But soon God shall release me from above

Although tonight this glass is far too deep

It is my only hope of finding sleep

My frozen self but wine will keep me warm

And aid me in this battle through my storm

Whilst drowning in a bottle I want more

I may not win my battle or my war

But sweetest red you make me feel complete

Yet still I feel unsteady on my feet

And sway as if I’m sailing stormy seas

Indeed I am another bottle please

Yet every sip like poison in my throat

It is a wonder that I’m still afloat

But still my weary thoughts entice me in

To yet another glass of red, of sin

This toxic grape that grows upon the vine

That brings a broken man to feel fine

Could you solve my problems friend of mine?

Oh deepest red my dearest friend the wine
