Wrote these few lines years ago, about a boy in HS named Mitch. It came back to my mind recently, prompted by the VA Tech tragedy...and I wonder, "shooter, or victim of one?"

Lounging in an attitude,

a loud and angry pose...

watching as his life slips by,

a door that's always closed.

Wondering at the people,

cackling in that style...

hoping perhaps he'll get the chance

to laugh with them awhile.

Motive behind the meaning,

Meaning behind the words...

And when the deed is finally done,

Motive and meaning merge.
