Desperation

On her knees,

Weak and afraid,

she stares at him,

The man she once loved,

But now all she feels

is the bittersweet taste of nothing,

the numbness surrounds her,

Blankets her in false security,

the tortuous lie of hope,

Fades away,

Leaving only deadness,

There is nothing left inside.

The monster she so once adored,

that now causes her so much pain,

With words and fists,

Slaps and curses,

Yelling, he rejoices in her pain,

Seeing her once bright eyes,

Faded and dead.

He never saw,

The spark,

A light in her eyes,

Fueled by the  seething hatred,

She's hidden for so long,

Until it explodes,

She rises up,

Surprising him,

She's never fought back before,

She turns to run,

Enough running,

Whirling around, she now holds his gun in her hands,

No one spoke as it exploded in her hands,

One final burst of power,

He will hurt her no longer,

But the question no one will ask:

Was it cold blooded murder,

or absolute desperation?
