The Diamond

He.

A single Dad.

Worked in a mid-Summer.

Sharp knifes of sunrays stabbed at him,

Till he shed his shadow like a river of flowing bloods,

And made it the only shade for sheltering from the sizzling sun.

Standing in the pool of blood-like shadow was his only company, his girl.

He beamed his smiles and said, ‘I am going to buy you a diamond when you grow.’

The sun was setting, the sky was blushing. Charming yellow, romantic pink.

Against sunlight, she saw he actually already bought her diamonds.

Inside each scar, bruise, winkle, nook and cranny of his body,

Hanged a sparkling, translucent and watering crystal.

Each one emitted summer heat and his love.

He didn’t know he’d enriched her world,

And made her grown since the day.

With a towel, she collected

His given diamonds.

‘I love you.

Dad.’
