I sat at my pc and sighed,
It had been so long since prose had flowed,
I took up jfm98's challenge with gusto,
And here is the story I wove.

The DOG was not DUMB just silent,
The ROAD he had walked told on his paws,
If he was a human you would see,
The ROUGE on his cheeks,
But that was just one of his flaws.

He felt he might RUN the RISK of starvation
His feigning nonchalance seemed a good plan,
His RETICENT mood, meant he missed out on the food,
And his DINNER was now in the man.

To DUB him “a lazy mutt” would be not right,
He was simply at loss for the sheer will,
To dig up the DISK, that any RATE would be missed,
He had stolen and chewed up the other night.

So he sat on his paws and found sleep,
And had a dream that the coyote chased him at DUSK,
Like in the colorful cartoon, that was over too soon,
The ROADRUNNER always won, as he must.

The dog realized with a shudder,
He was a pawn in a higher mans game,
He was not even real, No breath did he steal,
He was created so Myke would write once again!

So I finished the challenge and enjoyed it,
There was fun in the writing and rhyme,
I could not place the last word, you may already have heard,

But I feel I could fit DILL in given the time! (",)
